Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Batumi, covering the positions of Master (Bulk Carrier), Ship Master, and Chief Officer (Bulk Carrier). The Master / Ship Master is responsible for the overall command of the vessel, including safe navigation, compliance with international and flag-state regulations, efficient cargo operations, crew leadership, and emergency preparedness. The Chief Officer supports the Master in managing deck operations, planning and supervising loading and discharging of bulk cargoes, overseeing stability and ballast operations, and maintaining the vessel’s safety, security, and environmental protection standards. Day-to-day tasks include voyage planning, monitoring vessel performance, conducting drills, ensuring proper record-keeping, coordinating with port authorities and company representatives, and maintaining clear communication with all departments on board. All roles require strict adherence to company policies, maritime regulations, and industry best practices while fostering a safety-first culture among the crew. Qualifications Valid STCW-compliant licenses and certifications appropriate for Master or Chief Officer positions on bulk carriers, including required endorsements and medical fitness certificates. Demonstrated experience in command or senior deck officer roles on bulk carriers, with proven competence in navigation, cargo handling, and shipboard operations. Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations and conventions (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, ISM Code, ISPS Code) and company safety management systems. Expertise in bulk cargo operations, including loading and discharging procedures, cargo care, stability and ballast management, and use of relevant shipboard equipment and software. Ability to lead and manage a diverse crew, with effective communication, conflict resolution, mentoring, and teamwork skills. Proficiency in English for professional and technical communication; additional language skills are an advantage. Strong situational awareness and decision-making skills in normal and emergency conditions, including experience with drills, emergency response, and risk assessment. Competence in shipboard documentation, reporting, and use of electronic navigation and communication systems (e.g., ECDIS, GMDSS, radar, AIS).
