## Job description

The Associate Design Manager supports the Project Manager – Design in overseeing and coordinating the design development process across multiple projects from concept stage through construction documentation and execution. The role is responsible for assisting in consultant coordination, design review, stakeholder communication, technical documentation, and monitoring project deliverables to ensure alignment with company standards, timelines, budgets, and regulatory requirements. The Associate Design Manager acts as a key coordination point between internal departments, consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders to support smooth project delivery and effective design management processes. Responsibilities Coordinate with architects, engineers, design consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives and technical requirements are achieved. Assist in preparing scopes of work, design briefs, and Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation for consultant appointments. Review design submissions and drawings to ensure consistency with project requirements, company standards, and applicable regulations. Monitor design progress against approved schedules and follow up with consultants on pending deliverables and actions. Support the implementation of approved design changes and ensure proper issuance of revised drawings and Change Requests (CRs) to site teams and relevant stakeholders. Assist in ensuring design documentation is complete and coordinated prior to tender issuance. Coordinate with internal departments including Projects, Procurement, Commercial, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to support project requirements. Participate in design coordination meetings, workshops, presentations, and technical reviews. Identify design conflicts, technical risks, and coordination issues, and escalate them with proposed solutions. Support value engineering exercises and design optimization initiatives where applicable. Assist in monitoring design-related budgets and consultant performance. Ensure design deliverables comply with company quality standards, local authority requirements, building codes, and applicable regulations. Support quality control reviews of drawings, specifications, and material submissions. Maintain organized and accurate project design records, correspondence, and documentation. Liaise with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and authorities to facilitate smooth communication and project coordination. Support relationship management with external design partners and service providers. Coordinate responses to technical queries and assist in resolving site-related design issues during construction stages. Prepare regular progress updates, reports, meeting minutes, and status trackers for management review. Assist in tracking consultant deliverables, approvals, variation requests, and outstanding actions. Support the Project Manager – Design in managing claims, variation orders, and design-related contractual matters where required. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, materials, sustainability practices, and design management methodologies. Contribute to the improvement of internal design processes, standards, and workflows. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering MBA or Master’s Degree in technical discipline an asset. Preferred Experience: 10+ years in project management in engineering, construction projects 10 years in Property Development or consultancy/construction environment.
