The Opportunity Our client is looking for an experienced Browser Automation Engineer / Specialist to join their growing development team. This is a fully remote, long-term opportunity for someone with genuine hands-on experience building browser automation systems and working with technologies such as Python, Playwright, Selenium, proxies, browser profiles, and distributed automation infrastructure . This is not a traditional software engineering role. They are looking for someone who understands the challenges of running reliable browser automation in real-world environments and can independently solve complex automation problems. They have approximately 130 employees across different areas of the business, with a seven-person development team that they are planning to expand significantly. Their development team is fully remote and internationally distributed, with several team members already based in the Balkans. As the business continues to grow, technology and automation are becoming increasingly important to its operations. They are therefore looking for engineers with specialist knowledge in browser automation and related technologies. The Role As a Browser Automation Engineer / Specialist , you will help design, build, maintain, and improve scalable browser automation systems using real browser sessions. The engineering environment is primarily Python-based , and you will work on automation used for areas such as marketing operations, data collection, and other browser-based workflows. Projects may involve technologies and infrastructure such as: Python Playwright Puppeteer Selenium Browserbase or similar browser infrastructure Residential and mobile proxies Proxy rotation and management Browser profiles and fingerprint management Anti-detect browser environments Cloud phones and emulator platforms Distributed automation infrastructure You will be expected to work independently, investigate technical problems, and recommend appropriate solutions rather than simply implement predefined specifications. Key Responsibilities Design and develop reliable browser automation workflows Build and maintain automation primarily using Python Automate real browser sessions using Playwright, Selenium, Puppeteer, or similar technologies Develop systems capable of handling multiple concurrent browser sessions Integrate browser infrastructure platforms such as Browserbase or similar solutions Configure and manage residential and mobile proxy infrastructure Implement proxy rotation and session management strategies Work with browser profiles, fingerprints, cookies, and session persistence Integrate cloud phone or emulator platforms where appropriate Build configurable automation workflows for different use cases Develop automation capable of operating across distributed workloads Monitor automation reliability and troubleshoot failed sessions Identify and resolve browser, networking, proxy, and infrastructure issues Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of existing automation Support browser-based marketing and data collection workflows Research and evaluate new browser automation technologies and infrastructure Required Skills & Experience We are looking for candidates who already have significant practical experience in browser automation. You should have: Strong Python development skills Professional experience building browser automation Strong experience with Playwright, Selenium, Puppeteer, or similar frameworks Experience managing real browser sessions programmatically Good understanding of residential and/or mobile proxies Experience with proxy rotation and session management Familiarity with browser profiles and fingerprinting concepts Experience building reliable automation systems Understanding of distributed workloads and scalable architectures Ability to troubleshoot complex browser and networking problems Strong problem-solving skills Good written and spoken English Ability to work independently in a remote environment Strong communication and collaboration skills Nice to Have Experience in any of the following areas would be particularly valuable: Browserbase or comparable managed browser infrastructure Anti-detect or multi-profile browser environments Cloud phones or Android emulator infrastructure Large-scale browser automation Distributed task queues and worker architectures Cloud-based automation infrastructure Large-scale data collection Web scraping infrastructure QA automation Social media or marketing automation Browser fingerprinting Session persistence and identity management Monitoring and recovery systems for long-running automation Production experience is significantly more important than theoretical knowledge. Who Would Be a Good Fit? This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving unconventional technical problems and has worked on automation that goes beyond simple scripts. Your previous title might have been: Browser Automation Engineer, Python Automation Engineer, Web Automation Specialist, Scraping Engineer, Automation Infrastructure Engineer, RPA Developer, QA Automation Engineer, or Software Engineer. Your job title is less important than what you have actually built. You may be a particularly strong candidate if you have dealt with the challenges that arise when browser automation moves from running a few scripts locally to operating multiple reliable browser sessions in a production environment. Working Environment The position is 100% remote , and working hours are highly flexible. Our client is primarily interested in finding strong people rather than requiring everyone to work from a specific location. You will be joining an international development team where independence and clear communication are important. Candidates should be comfortable taking ownership of their work while collaborating remotely with other developers. The position is intended to be a full-time, long-term engagement of approximately 40 hours per week . Freelance, contractor, B2B, or self-employed arrangements can be considered depending on your country and preferred method of engagement, provided you are interested in working with our client on a full-time and long-term basis. Recruitment Process The recruitment process is designed to be straightforward and respectful of candidates' time. 1. Introductory Interview A short initial conversation with the recruiter to discuss your background, relevant automation experience, English communication skills, availability, and expectations. 2. Short Technical Task Selected candidates may be asked to complete a brief practical technical exercise. The assignment will intentionally be kept short and is designed to provide a practical starting point for the technical discussion rather than requiring candidates to complete a lengthy unpaid project. 3. Technical & Team Interview Candidates who successfully complete the initial stage will meet directly with our client. This interview will typically last around 30 to 45 minutes and will focus on your technical experience, previous projects, approach to automation problems, and overall fit with the team. 4. Offer & Trial Period Successful candidates will initially join through a one-month trial period , with the intention of continuing into a long-term full-time engagement.
