About the position: We are expanding our internal IT department and looking for an IT Security Engineer. What You’ll Do: Investigate security events and determine whether they are legitimate threats or false positives. Analyze logs from firewalls, endpoint security agents, and authentication systems. Participate in vulnerability management activities, including vulnerability scanning, prioritization, and remediation tracking in collaboration with the infrastructure team. Support basic hardening of Windows and Linux servers based on established security baselines and checklists. Participate in incident response activities as the first line of security analysis. Create, maintain, and update security documentation, procedures, and operational guidelines. Must have: Solid understanding of Information Security fundamentals, including confidentiality, integrity, availability (CIA), risks, threats, and vulnerabilities, with practical awareness of their real-world application. Knowledge of network security concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VPNs, and firewalls. Understanding of authentication, authorization, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and access control principles. Knowledge of common attack techniques, including phishing, malware, ransomware, brute-force attacks, and DoS/DDoS, and the ability to recognize their indicators in logs and monitoring systems. Experience working with security logs and identifying suspicious or malicious activity. Strong analytical and investigative skills, including timeline reconstruction, hypothesis validation, and structured incident analysis. Nice to have: Hands-on experience with SIEM, EDR/XDR platforms, and vulnerability scanning tools, including lab or personal projects. Basic Windows and Linux system hardening experience. Knowledge of vulnerability management processes, including CVE/CVSS scoring, remediation prioritization, and patch management. Understanding of Incident Response processes, including identification, containment, eradication, and recovery. Familiarity with IDS/IPS technologies, their operating principles, and their role within security architectures. Networking knowledge at the CCST Networking level (or equivalent), including routing, switching, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
