## Job description

Role: The Medical Technologist II performs clinical laboratory testing across various sections, including General Lab and Blood Bank, under supervision. They analyze blood and body fluids, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols, and maintain equipment and records. They may supervise and train staff, act as a resource for pathologists, and resolve technical issues. Key Responsibilities Conduct routine and specialized tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank. Perform quality assurance activities, equipment maintenance, and reagent/log management. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving lab issues, including acting as a supervisor in their absence. Train new staff and participate in performance improvement projects. Maintain compliance with CAP and joint commission standards. If assigned to Blood Bank, participate in rotations, perform stat duties, and manage blood products. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Health Science, or related field; Master’s preferred. Certifications such as MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), or equivalent required upon hire. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist; Epic experience preferred. Proficiency in computer/data entry, communication skills, and basic knowledge of Excel and Word. Additional Duties: Maintain procedure manuals, perform instrument maintenance, monitor quality control, assist with surveys, and ensure laboratory readiness.
