## Job description

The Orthopedic Technician (Ortho Tech) is responsible for delivering high-quality patient care related to casting, bracing, and orthotics, ensuring positive outcomes. They collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons to provide patient education, assessments, and continuity of care, including brace fitting and application. Core Duties Include Providing casting, splinting, bracing, and orthotics services as ordered, assisting with fitting and application of pre-operative braces and soft goods. (60%) Supporting ancillary staff with suture/staple removal, dressing changes, and pin removal, ensuring competency in brace fitting. (25%) Assisting with patient intake, rooming, discharge procedures, and patient/staff education on casting and bracing. (5%) Monitoring and managing supplies within budget, with oversight from management. (5%) May serve as a Patient Care Assistant or CMA during staffing shortages, ensuring compliance with accreditation and safety standards. (5%) Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Registered Orthopedic Technician certification, with at least 2 years of experience as a CMA or certified tech. Certifications required include CMA or ROT and BLS.
