Senior Accountant / Team Lead — Latvia, Malta & Georgia Operations

We are looking for a Senior Accountant based in Georgia to oversee the accounting function for the Latvia and Malta entities, as well as support other locations. The role is responsible for reviewing and ensuring the quality of accounting work prepared by the accounting team, providing audit support, and managing senior-level communication with group companies in other locations. In addition, the role owns the accounting for Georgian import and export operations as a separate workstream. Tax compliance for the Latvia and Malta entities remains with an external provider and is not required as part of this role. The Senior Accountant will report to the Country Senior Financial Controller. Key Responsibilities Supervision & Review (core focus) • Supervise and review the work of the AP & Banking Accountant and the GL & Reporting Accountant • Quality control of postings; sign-off on month-end close and reconciliations • Workload planning, coordination of deadlines, and training/onboarding of the team • Escalation point for complex postings, judgment areas and accounting policy questions Audit & Senior-Level Matters • Preparation of information and replies for auditor requests • Cross-country meetings and tax alignment discussions with group companies • Ad-hoc senior requests: residence certificates, intercompany transaction files, cash-flow files for financial statements • Coordination with the external provider on outsourced areas (tax compliance, payment execution) Georgian Import & Export Operations (separate workstream — new scope) • Accounting for import and export transactions of the Georgian operations (goods, customs duties, freight, insurance) • Preparation and control of import/export documentation: customs declarations, waybills, invoices • Coordination with customs brokers and the Georgian Revenue Service (RS.ge) • VAT treatment of import/export transactions and coordination of Georgian tax filings • GEL/FX handling and monitoring of Georgian currency and customs regulations Collaboration & Communication • Senior point of contact for group companies — support and communication • Internal communication and IT-issue coordination for the accounting team Requirements • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (ACCA or equivalent) is an advantage • 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, incl. 2+ years supervising or reviewing the work of other accountants • Experience working in international companies is required — ideally in a multi-entity, multi-currency group environment • Knowledge of Georgian accounting, tax and customs requirements for import/export operations • Comfortable overseeing accounting for foreign entities (Latvia and Malta) under EU accounting frameworks • Experience with an ERP system — Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a strong advantage • Strong Excel skills (review files, reconciliations, cash-flow files) • Fluent written and spoken English; Georgian required for local authorities and customs brokers Nice to Have • Experience with the Georgian Revenue Service portal (RS.ge) and customs procedures • Experience supporting external audits and year-end financial statements • Prior experience taking over an accounting function from an outsourced provider and building a team
