This is a senior hands-on engineering role for someone who can work confidently with an existing backend codebase, deliver new functionality, improve performance and reliability, and contribute to the long-term maintainability of the system. You will work primarily with our Node.js / TypeScript backend stack and collaborate closely with the Systems Analyst, Frontend / Mobile Lead Dev, QA, DevOps and Product teams to deliver reliable, scalable and well-designed product features. Design, review and evolve GraphQL and REST APIs used by mobile and web applications. Work with the Systems Analyst on technical specifications, API contracts and acceptance criteria. Integrate backend services with PostgreSQL , Redis , messaging systems and other infrastructure components. Work with PostgreSQL, including SQL optimization, schema evolution and database performance. Integrate with payment providers, data providers and other external services. Improve backend performance, reliability, scalability and maintainability. Apply appropriate caching and backend optimization techniques where required. Contribute to code quality through code reviews, refactoring, automated testing and adherence to shared engineering standards. Maintain unit, integration and practical end-to-end test coverage integrated into CI. Improve observability through structured logging, metrics, monitoring and effective incident diagnostics.
