The Opportunity SEL is seeking an experienced Application Engineer III - Automation to join our team in Tbilisi. In this highly technical role, you will serve as a subject matter expert for automation solutions, supporting customers, partners, and internal teams throughout the full project lifecycle. You will leverage your expertise to solve complex engineering challenges, deliver technical leadership, and ensure successful implementation of automation and control solutions across critical infrastructure applications. What you’ll do: Develop deep expertise in automation systems, industrial communications, and SEL solutions . Provide advanced technical support through customer visits, demonstrations, training, and remote assistance. Design and implement automation solutions that address complex customer requirements. Support system integration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and project execution activities. Develop application software, technical documentation, and engineering best practices. Deliver technical training to customers, partners, and SEL personnel. Collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, and Project teams to deliver high-quality customer solutions. Act as a trusted technical advisor and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Control Systems Engineering , or a related technical field. 8+ years of experience in automation, industrial control systems, application engineering, or system integration. Strong knowledge of SCADA, HMI, PLC, RTU, industrial networking, and control system architectures . Experience supporting customers through commissioning, troubleshooting, technical consulting, and training. Ability to analyze and solve complex technical challenges in demanding environments. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within global teams. Willingness and ability to travel as required. High standards of integrity, professionalism, and technical excellence. Preferred Qualifications Experience with power systems, substation automation, industrial automation, or critical infrastructure applications. Knowledge of IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, or other industrial communication protocols. Experience leading technical discussions with customers and mentoring junior engineers.
