Senior SysOps Engineer (IoT)

We are looking for an experienced Senior SysOps Engineer with a strong background in IoT infrastructure to join our team on a contract basis. This is a hands-on role for a self-sufficient engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges. You'll be expected to quickly onboard, take ownership of critical systems, and independently operate and improve a distributed IoT environment. Responsibilities Infrastructure & Systems Operations Deploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based infrastructure. Manage operating system installation, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning. Operate and optimize virtualization platforms (Proxmox preferred). Manage on-premise hardware infrastructure, including servers, NAS, UPS, PDUs, and rack systems. Configure and maintain networking, including IP addressing, VLANs, routing, and firewalls. Administer identity and access management solutions such as FreeIPA and FreeRADIUS. Observability & Reliability Design, implement, and maintain monitoring and observability solutions. Build logging, metrics, alerting, and health-check pipelines. Work with tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Alloy, or equivalent technologies. Ensure high availability, reliability, and operational visibility across the infrastructure. Containers & Platform Integration Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Docker. Configure service-to-service communication and networking. Integrate infrastructure components across multiple environments and technology stacks. IoT Infrastructure Design and implement communication between physical devices (cameras, radars, audio systems, sensors) and backend services. Build reliable and scalable data pipelines connecting hardware and software components. Support real-time and batch data processing across IoT environments. Participate in the deployment, integration, and scaling of complex IoT solutions. Requirements Extensive hands-on experience with Linux system administration. Strong experience with virtualization platforms (Proxmox is highly preferred). Solid understanding of networking principles, infrastructure architecture, and troubleshooting. Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability platforms. Practical experience with Docker and containerized environments. Proven experience integrating and operating IoT systems and connected devices. Ability to work independently, take ownership, and drive technical solutions with minimal supervision. Fluent English, both written and spoken. Nice to Have Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code. Familiarity with edge computing or distributed infrastructure.
