## Job description

Position Summary: The role of the Pedestrian Operator is the collection of high-resolution images for web mapping platforms. The operator must adhere strictly to predefined safety protocols, data quality standards, and privacy guidelines. This role requires significant time spent outdoors, physical stamina, attention to detail and responsible handling of trusted equipment. Key Responsibilities (KRAs) Data Collection Operations Execute Collection Plans: Follow detailed collection routes and schedules provided by the designated supervisor, ensuring coverage of specified geographic locations, times of day, and weather conditions. Operate Equipment: Operate specialised imaging hardware (e.g., high-resolution cameras, LiDAR units, custom capture devices) in public settings. Troubleshot minor equipment issues in the field under the supervision of the Tech Support. Adherence to Protocols: Strictly follow all data acquisition rules, especially those pertaining to pedestrian privacy and safety. Safety and Compliance Field Safety: Maintain a high level of situational awareness to ensure personal safety and the security of equipment while working in high-traffic or public areas. Public Interaction: Professionally and courteously manage any inquiries from the public or local authorities regarding collection activities, directing complex queries to the designated supervisor. Reporting and Logistics Daily Reporting: Complete varying daily reporting tasks documenting collection progress, equipment status, and any encountered environmental or logistical challenges. Logistics: Manage and maintain inventory of collection equipment, ensuring all components are charged, clean, tracked, and in working order, including coordination of SSD shipments and handling to and from field teams as required. Required Qualifications Experience & Education High School Diploma or equivalent; an Associate’s degree or relevant technical certification is a plus. Minimum 1 year of experience in a field-based data collection, logistics, or outdoor role (e.g., surveying, delivery, field research). Strong written and verbal English communication skills (minimum B1 level) to effectively collaborate with our international teams. Skills & Abilities Technical Aptitude: Proficient in using mobile devices, navigating digital maps (GPS), and performing basic technical setup/troubleshooting of electronic equipment. Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail to ensure adherence to precise data collection specifications and metadata requirements. Communication: Excellent interpersonal and professional communication skills for interacting with international team members and the public. Autonomy: Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain productivity without direct supervision. Logistics & Physical Requirements Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record (if using a company vehicle). Ability to walk for extended periods (6+ hours a day), covering a minimum of 10 KM while carrying up to 22 KG of equipment in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, light rain) and across diverse environments such as beaches, hills, dense urban areas. Availability & flexibility to travel for extended periods (1-3 months) across multiple countries and cities. Availability to work flexible or staggered hours to collect data during specific time windows (e.g., morning rush, evening hours)
