## Job description

About us At Altery, we're building products that make finance feel seamless in a fragmented world. We build the technology that helps businesses and people move money across borders, currencies and digital assets, without the friction. Behind every simple payment is a complex system, and a team that makes it work. We look for people who enjoy solving difficult problems, challenge each other with respect and care about doing great work. We're now looking for a Technical Support Specialist to join our Customer Operations team. You'll be the main technical contact for customers integrating with our platform via API, and the person who finds out what went wrong and gets it fixed when something breaks. What you'll be doing at Altery Own the technical onboarding of customers integrating with our API, from first sandbox call through go-live and ongoing support. Guide customers' developers through our API documentation, authentication, request and response structures, webhooks and error handling. Validate sandbox test scenarios, confirm integrations are ready for go-live, and monitor live integrations so you can act on failed requests or unusual activity before customers notice. Investigate and resolve issues using databases, logs and monitoring tools, and escalate complex cases to Engineering with a clear analysis of what's happening. Lead the first analysis of technical incidents, assessing impact, criticality and root cause, and keep everyone updated until they're resolved. Work with Engineering, Product, Operations and third-party providers on fixes, technical specifications and testing of new functionality. Improve our API documentation, integration guides and knowledge base based on what customers ask most, and help first-line support handle common issues. Spot recurring problems and suggest improvements to monitoring, automation and the developer experience. What you'll bring to us Must-haves Experience as a Technical Support Specialist, Application Support Analyst, IT Support Engineer or in a similar technical support role. A solid understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods and status codes, JSON and common authentication methods (API keys, OAuth 2.0, HMAC signatures). Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting APIs with Postman or similar tools, and the ability to read OpenAPI/Swagger documentation and explain it clearly. Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, and confidence using logs, alerts and monitoring tools to find the root cause of an issue. Familiarity with tools like ours: MySQL, MongoDB, GitLab, Graylog, Grafana, Sentry, Metabase, Retool, Mixpanel, Microsoft Clarity and Jira. Experience working directly with customers' or partners' technical teams. The ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both developers and non-technical colleagues. English at B2 level or higher. Nice to have Experience onboarding customers or partners onto an API-based platform, including sandbox testing and go-live support. Familiarity with webhooks, idempotency, rate limiting and API versioning. Experience writing SQL queries for troubleshooting and data analysis. Experience in fintech, payments, SaaS or financial services. Basic scripting skills in Python or JavaScript. Knowledge of ITIL, Agile or service management practices. A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field. How you work You take ownership: you follow every incident and integration through to resolution rather than passing it on. You collaborate: you share early and think about how your work affects others, from customers' developers to our engineers. You're curious: you like to learn, experiment and use AI and automation thoughtfully. How we value you Here's what you can expect when you join Altery: Competitive compensation that rewards your contribution. Flexible working. Wherever you are, you work your local hours with flexibility, and we all come together during core hours, 9am-2pm UK time. Near a hub? We'd love to see you from time to time, but we care more about outcomes than office hours. Wellbeing support, including additional sick leave when you need it. Opportunities to grow your career by taking ownership, expanding your skills and making a real impact. Why join us A team that has your back: we're team players, not solo stars. People here are quick to help and ready to collaborate. Ownership from day one: you're trusted to make decisions, try new things and lead from wherever you are. Built by a global team: our team spans countries, cultures and time zones, and those different perspectives help us build for customers around the world. High standards, continuous growth: you'll be encouraged to learn, challenge assumptions and help raise the bar. Resilient by design: we're a startup, so we don't expect easy days, we expect progress. When challenges come, you'll never face them alone. Sound like you? Apply now and help us create financial experiences that work seamlessly across borders, currencies and technologies. We celebrate our diversity: its power strengthens our team. We welcome applications from everyone, whatever your background, and we hire based on skills, experience and the difference you can make. We treat your personal data with care and use it only for recruitment. Applications are processed through our hiring platform, HiBob.
