Head of the English Language Department at Akhali Taoba School (Tbilisi). Deadline 06 September.

06 September The American Program at " New Generation " School is announcing a vacancy for the position of Head of the English Language Department . The Head of Department leads the English language team across Grades 1-12, holds responsibility for the quality and coherence of the English curriculum, and works with the administration to ensure alignment with American educational standards and Cognia accreditation requirements. Qualification Requirements Candidates must meet the requirements established by law, including: ** Higher education in English Philology, English Language Teaching, Education, or a related discipline (a Master`s degree is a strong advantage) ** A certificate confirming completion of a teacher training program (a 60-credit course or an integrated master`s program), or the corresponding status established by law (Senior, Leading, or Mentor Teacher) - preferred ** At least 3-5 years of experience teaching English in an educational setting, including a minimum of 1-2 years in a leadership, coordination, or mentoring role (experience in an international or accredited American-program school is considered a significant advantage) ** Demonstrated command of English at C1-C2 level; an internationally recognized certificate (CELTA, DELTA, TESOL, IELTS/CPE) is an advantage Main Responsibilities Departmental leadership ** Leading, supervising, and supporting the English language teaching team ** Recruiting, onboarding, and mentoring new teachers in the department ** Conducting regular lesson observations and providing structured, constructive feedback ** Planning and leading departmental meetings and internal professional development ** Managing the department`s timetable input, workload distribution, and resource needs Curriculum and instruction ** Overseeing the development and vertical alignment of the English curriculum across Grades 1-12 ** Ensuring curriculum compliance with American educational standards and Cognia accreditation requirements ** Reviewing and approving long-term (annual) and short-term (semester, unit, lesson) plans prepared by department teachers ** Selecting and evaluating textbooks, digital resources, and supplementary materials ** Maintaining a personal teaching load in the department Assessment and reporting ** Overseeing assessment, recording, and reporting of student progress in accordance with MAP assessment criteria ** Analyzing MAP and internal assessment data at department level and translating findings into instructional action ** Ensuring consistency and objectivity of formative and summative assessment across teachers and grade levels ** Reporting on departmental performance to the school administration Collaboration ** Systematic and constructive collaboration with colleagues, parents, and school administration ** Coordinating with the special education teacher to support inclusive education ** Representing the department in accreditation processes, school events, and external communication ** Active participation in professional development and school activities Required Competencies ** Excellent command of English, with the ability to teach and lead professional discussion in English ** In-depth knowledge of the English curriculum and American educational standards ** Ability to design and align curriculum across grade levels ** Proficiency in modern, interactive, student-centered teaching methods and differentiated approaches ** Ability to observe lessons, evaluate teaching quality, and coach adult professionals ** Knowledge and objective use of diverse assessment tools (formative and summative), and the ability to interpret assessment data ** Effective classroom management and creation of a positive, caring, and mutually respectful learning environment ** Ability to identify students` individual needs and support the principles of inclusive education ** Digital literacy: proficiency in school management systems, educational platforms, and office software Personal Qualities ** A kind and empathetic attitude toward adolescents, along with emotional stability and tact ** High professional ethics, responsibility, communication skills, and a culture of teamwork ** Leadership capacity: the ability to set standards, hold colleagues accountable, and resolve conflict constructively ** Organization, punctuality, and a commitment to continuous professional development Documentation to Submit to the School ** Copy of ID card ** Autobiography / CV (preferably in English) ** Notarized copy of educational credentials (certificate, diploma) ** 3/4 photograph, printed and in digital format ** Documents confirming professional development (if applicable) ** For certified teachers — a copy of the relevant certificate ** Certificate reflecting the status assigned within the teacher professional development scheme ** Criminal record certificate ** Certificate regarding sexual offense convictions ** Certificate regarding deprivation of rights We Offer: ** Salary determined individually, by agreement with the candidate ** A pleasant, team-oriented, and collaborative work environment ** Opportunities for professional growth and development ** An environmentally clean setting, with well-equipped classrooms and laboratories ** A positive school culture focused on student learning and wellbeing
